What is a Core Owner Operator?

Minor Carriers operates an exclusive core owner operator base comprised of the highest fleets in operation. These core owner operators have access to our experienced dispatchers, bringing valuable experience and understanding to ensure smooth operations. Our modern approach gives an ease of doing business with us through integrations that allow for streamlined day to day interactions and a dedicated point of contact whose role is to ensure we are actively matching your business needs with new opportunities and effectively communicating every day.

How it works?

Minor Carriers is a common/contract carrier who leases on Owner Operators who have their own truck, at least 2 years OTR experience (no breaks for those two years) with or without a trailer, running under our DOT and MC numbers. Here are the pre–qualifications:

  • Application (can be completed by going to the Apply Now button at the top of this page).
  • Driver’s License
  • Social Security card
  • Medical Card/Certificate
  • MVR (Medical Vehicle Report)
  • PSP (Pre-Employment Screening Program)
  • Truck Registration (Cab Card)
  • Trailer registration (if you have your own)
  • Finance agreement or proof of ownership (title) for equipment
  • Proof of bobtail & physical damage insurance
What's the process?

Once we receive ALL documents, your file will then move to the onboarding process.

Initial Expenses (approximately $400 start-up cost plus $2,600 escrow that can be deducted weekly $200 for 13 weeks from settlement). The start-up cost will cover:

  • Pre-employment drug test
  • Clearinghouse query
  • IFTA decals and KY permits
  • Drug & Alcohol Program
  • Carrier’s decals and DOT #s
  • Escrow account (weekly deductions of $200 up to 13 weeks)
  • Equipment Inspections (Monthly)
  • Fuel taxes (cost varies Quarterly)

The following will be yearly renewals:

  • MVR (Medical Vehicle Report)
  • Medical Card/Certificate*
  • Clearinghouse query
  • Drug & Alcohol Program
  • IFTA decals and KY permits
  • Truck Registration (Cab Card)
  • Bobtail & physical damage Insurance
 

*Prior to expiration date
